Located in Bengaluru, India’s Silicon City, St. Joseph’s University is a distinguished Jesuit institution with a rich history. Founded in 1882 by the Paris Foreign Mission Fathers, its administration was entrusted to the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1937. Initially affiliated with the Universities of Madras, Mysore, and Bangalore, St. Joseph’s College achieved several milestones: it was the first affiliated college in Karnataka to offer postgraduate programs (1986), the first to establish a Research Centre (1988), and among the first five in the state granted academic autonomy (2005). After the passage of the St. Joseph’s University Bill in the Karnataka legislature, the college officially became a university on July 2, 2022. Remarkably, it was inaugurated as India’s first Public-Private-Partnership University on September 27, 2022, by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
